Dear Salon Guest,

You’ve been hearing all this buzz about Olaplex and finally want to give it a try in the salon. Yay! Well, just in case it seems as though your we’re speaking like your high school chemistry professor, we’re here to give a little extra support in explaining Olaplex to you.

Olaplex is a 3 step system with all three steps containing the same patented active ingredient. It was founded by Dean Christal and created by two of the world’s leading Ph.D.’s in Materials and Chemistry, Dr. Craig Hawker, and Dr. Eric Pressly. They invented a single ingredient chemistry, free of silicone or oils, that links broken disulfide bonds in the hair during and after chemical services making them stronger than they were before. No.1 is the concentrate, No.2 is the cream form, and the No.3 is a take-home version of the No.2, formulated for clients. Both No.1 and No.2 are for salon professionals only and cannot be purchased without a cosmetology license, while the No.3 is available for client’s to purchase at most Olaplex Salons.

Olaplex is your hairdresser’s insurance policy. By adding Olaplex No.1 into your chemical service, she/he is mitigating the damage done during the process. This is something that has never been done before! Now, the No.2 is a treatment to show your hair some much-needed love, just like the No.1 does, except it doesn’t have chemicals such as lightener working against it. It’s crucial to let the No.2 sit in the hair in between services for a minimum of 10 minutes to get the full benefit of the treatment– your hair will thank you!

Making sense so far? Consider No.1 the tool that fights damage during the chemical service and No.2 the tool to revive and rebuild the bonds in of your hair once the chemical service is complete or in between services to allow for more processes in a shorter time frame. Let’s take a minute right here and briefly go over color corrections such as the ones you’ve probably seen on Instagram on the #Olaplex feed.

It’s important to touch on expectations with color corrections. Your colorist should always use good judgment as she/he knows your hair best and what it can take in one sitting. You may be able to pull off dark brunette hair to platinum in a day and have your hair feeling better than ever and that is incredible! We are so amazed each and every time we see it. However, not everyone’s hair can take that transformation in one salon visit. So, if it takes you a few salon visits to carefully get to your desired color, we recommend coming back into the salon for stand-alone treatments in between services to make sure your hair is stronger and healthier than ever to prepare for your transformation!

Oh, and of course the No.3. That’s your insurance policy at home to restore your hair from the thermal and mechanical styling you do on your own. You know those 500 degree flat irons or curling wands you love? Those tools tend to do even more damage than you would typically get in the salon. Read more about the No.3 here.

Wait, but what if you don’t go into the salon for chemical services? Can you still use Olaplex? The answer is yes! The wonderful thing about Olaplex is it’s compatible with ALL hair types and can be used not only during all salon services from color/highlights to relaxers but it also stands alone just as a treatment whether you have natural hair, virgin hair, or chemically treated hair.

There you have it! Thank you so much for your support in using Olaplex. We’re here for you and if you have any further questions feel free to contact us!

Lots of love,
Olaplex
